Former PWD Bamenda and Yong Sports Academy midfielder Chem Herbert Mbunwe continues his football journey in Spain, where he remains focused on developing his game and gaining valuable experience in European football.
The talented midfielder first attracted national attention during his time with PWD Bamenda, where his technical ability, vision and composure in midfield quickly marked him as one of Cameroon’s brightest young prospects. His standout moment came during the 2022 Cup of Cameroon final, when he scored the winning goal for PWD Bamenda and was named Man of the Match, helping secure one of the club’s most memorable victories.
Following an impressive spell with Yong Sports Academy (YOSA), Chem earned an opportunity to travel to Spain for trials with CD Leganés. After successfully completing the trial period, he signed with the Spanish club in 2023, marking an important step in his professional career.
Recent player records show that Chem is now continuing his career in Spanish football, where he is working to establish himself while adapting to the demands of the European game. Although still early in his overseas career, regular training and competitive football continue to contribute to his technical and tactical development.
For many young footballers in Cameroon’s North West Region, Chem Herbert’s journey serves as a reminder that persistence and hard work can create opportunities beyond the country’s borders. His progression from local football in Bamenda to professional football in Spain demonstrates the pathway that talented young players can follow through dedication and consistent performance.
