PWD of Bamenda battles structural instability.

Massive Roster Overhaul Confirmed

MTN Élite One side PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has officially logged the highest player movement in domestic football ahead of the upcoming 2026/2027 season. The Abakwa Boys completely reshaped their squad depth, occupying 10 out of the top 14 spots for the most extensive individual player turnovers in the league.

A Slump Fueled by Inconsistency

  • The High Flier: At the start of the last campaign, PWD Bamenda established itself as a formidable force, even launching an early run as provisional leaders of the MTN Élite One table.
  • The Mid-Season Collapse: However, the squad severely faded in form, suffering high-profile defensive collapses such as a brutal 5–2 defeat to Coton Sport and completely sliding down the standings during the final matchdays.
  • The Radical Response: Following the alarming slump and a subsequent quarter-final exit in the Coupe du Cameroun, the administrative board chose to clean house, letting go of long-serving pillars like defender Neossi Kameni Gilbert to implement this drastic overhaul.

Risking the “Unstable” Label

While some local analysts view the radical recruitment strategy as a mandatory refresh to wipe away the ghost of last season’s failures, others heavily criticize the approach as highly unstable. Breaking up the core chemistry of a roster carries immense tactical risks, forcing the incoming management structure to build their positional synergy completely from scratch before the championship matches get underway.
