Gerrard Slams Man United Recruitment

Harsh Midfield Evaluation

Steven Gerrard has questioned Manchester United’s summer recruitment strategy. He focused heavily on their expensive midfield signings. As Editor, I find his brutal honesty refreshing. He pointed out clear flaws in their talent acquisition.

Questioning the Standards

“Look at the midfield: they have recruited a Chelsea player, [Andrey Santos], for 50 million pounds,” Gerrard observed. He questioned the club’s standard of signings. “Why recruit players who are not good enough to play at Manchester United?” he asked.

Loss of Attraction

Gerrard feels the club has lost its elite status. “Simply because they are the only players you can currently attract,” he added sharply. The former Liverpool captain believes the allure of Old Trafford has completely faded.

Not Ready Yet

He also scrutinized the huge expenditure on Carlos Baleba. “Carlos Baleba, 70 million pounds,” Gerrard noted. “He has potential, but he is not yet ready to help Manchester United compete with the best teams in the league”
